RULES & ETIQUETTE
- BE A NICE PERSON - Be respectful to others. Your training partner is the most important person in the room. Training can get intense and that is part of the fun. Incidental accidents are a possible occurrence in a martial arts and combat sport environment but malicious intent to injure is never acceptable. Respect your training partner.
- PRACTICE GOOD HYGEINE - All students are expected to come to training showered & clean. This includes having all of their gear clean, especially Gi and No-Gi attire (gloves & shinguards for Muay-Thai & MMA). Make sure fingernails and toenails are trimmed. We have showers and clippers available if needed.
- REMOVE FOOTWEAR before stepping on the mats. Wear footwear off the mats. Flipflops or slides are easiest.
- REMOVE ALL JEWELRY or piercings before steeping on the mats.
- BE ON TIME TO CLASS - Let the instructor know if you have any recurring situation that will cause you to be a few minutes late. We understand and it's typically not a big deal. If you have no reason to be late, it is. If you are late to class, approach the instructor before jumping in.
- DON'T BE DISRESPECTFUL DURING INSTRUCTION. The instructor will typically give you a chance to ask questions. Listen and train.
- DON'T FILM WITHOUT CONSENT - We often have pro athletes in training. While filming isn't typically a big deal, simply get the okay first.
- CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF - Don't leave water bottles, clothing, nasty band-aids or anything else at the gym. It's disrespectful and gross.
- RANK MATTERS - We are fairly informal in regards to many traditional BJJ rules. Rank does matter though. It shows a students dedication to learning the art, often with years of sacrifice and hard work.
- RESPECT THE TAP - Don't injure yourself by tapping too late. If you don't have a technical response to get out of a situation, just tap. If your partner taps for any reason, let go.
